Tracking devices

To use tracking devices you need to integrate with a telematics provider, see for a list of currently supported providers. Once you have connected your provider, , with Loopit you can add a tracking device to one of your fleet.

Attach a tracking device to a vehicle

To attach a device to a vehicle navigate to the vehicle and select "Tracking Device" from the "+" menu.

Enter the details;

  1. Units - miles or kilometers.

  2. Telematic provider - select the connection the device uses

  3. Enter the serial number

    1. If the device was previously attached to a vehicle in your workspace it will show here as an option to select

    2. If this device has not been added to your workspace before, you will see an option to "Create and verify device with serial number XXX". Once you click on this we will verify the serial number with the provider. If the serial number is invalid a warning will show and you will need to double check the entered serial number

  4. Press save

Remove a device from a vehicle

Last known location

If the device provider has a latitude and longitude of where the vehicle last was detected we will save this and show it on the map on the Overview page for a vehicle.

Once a device is removed, the last known location pin on the map will remain at the position we last stored prior to the device being removed.

How often is device data updated?

Once a device is removed from a vehicle we will not attempt to get updated data from the device.

Devices overview

To view all devices within your workspace go to Settings > Tracking from the menu. From here you will be able to see all devices attached, as well as a link to the vehicle, or previously attached to a vehicle as well as when a reading was last taken.

When a device is attached to a vehicle we attempt a data retrieval every 30 minutes. If the odometer reading has changed we insert a new against the vehicle it is attached to. If the odometer has not changed no new meter reading will be saved as part of this data retrieval.
