# Service reminders

## Overview

Service reminders in Loopit help ensure timely maintenance by notifying you when a service is due. Setting up service reminders involves three main steps:

1. Define the service plan template.
2. Add a service schedule to an asset.
3. Set up alerts for when a service is due.

### Define the service plan template

A service plan template determines the rules for triggering service reminders.

It can be:

* **Time-based**: e.g., every 12 months
* **Odometer-based**: e.g., every 10,000 km (increments of 10,000 km, such as 10,000, 20,000, 30,000)

#### To Create a Service Plan Template:

1. Navigate to **/settings/service-plans**.\
