Meter readings allow you to track the reading of one or more meters in an asset. An example of a meter is the odometer, which Loopit sets as the default primary meter.
There are three primary ways a meter reading can be recorded against an asset;
Automatic reading from a telematic connection
Manual reading entered by an operator
Inspections
When a device is connected and attached to the asset within Loopit we will take automatic readings from the device and enter a meter reading automatically. Learn more about tracking devices.
To record a meter reading navigate to the asset. From the asset page click the "+" icon quick action menu and select "Meter Reading".
A manual meter reading cannot be a lower value than the last meter reading entry.
As the primary meter is the odometer you can configure the unit of measure to be either miles (mi) or kilometers (km).
Once a unit of measure has been set any readings will be recorded as if they were that unit of measure. If you proceed to update the unit of measure, for example from miles to kilometers, Loopit will not convert the previous readings.
