Creating a coupon
The Discounts module in Loopit allows you to create coupon codes that can be applied to bookings. Coupons can be used as promotional tools for customers, or as a way to manage structural pricing adjustments across your fleet — without needing to make manual changes to individual bookings.
If the Discounts module is not available in your account, contact your account manager to have it enabled.
Accessing the Discounts Module
Go to Settings.
Select Discounts.
Click Add New Discount to begin.
Configuring a Coupon
Coupon Code
Enter a unique code that customers or operators will use to redeem the discount (e.g. LOVE200). This is the identifier for the coupon across the platform.
Description
Add a description to explain how the coupon works. This is for internal reference and helps your team understand the purpose and structure of the discount at a glance.
Discount Value
Define what the coupon is actually worth. There are two discount types:
Dollar amount — a fixed dollar value is deducted from the invoice.
Percentage — a percentage is deducted from the invoice.
Important — billing frequency and dollar amount discounts:
Loopit treats each billing frequency (daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly) separately. If you are running a dollar amount discount across multiple billing frequencies, you will need to configure a value for each frequency individually — and those values should be set proportionally to remain equivalent in practice.
For example, a $100 weekly discount and a $200 fortnightly discount represent the same effective reduction per fortnight. If both were set to $200, a customer on weekly billing would receive $400 in discounts over the same period that a fortnightly customer receives $200.
Percentage discounts do not have this consideration — 10% is 10% regardless of billing frequency.
If your business operates on a single billing frequency, you only need to configure a value for that frequency.
Start and End Date
Set a start date and, optionally, an end date for the coupon.
If no end date is set, the coupon will never expire. This may be appropriate for internal or structural discounts, but is generally not recommended for time-limited promotions such as seasonal offers.
Maximum Redemptions
Set a cap on how many times the coupon can be redeemed in total. Once that number is reached, the coupon will no longer be accepted.
Leave this field blank to allow unlimited redemptions (up to the expiry date, if one has been set).
Frequency
Define how the discount is applied across billing cycles:
One-time — the discount is applied to the first billing cycle only, then removed automatically.
Recurring — the discount is applied every billing cycle for the life of the booking.
Limited — the discount is applied on a recurring basis, but only for a specified number of billing cycles, after which it is removed automatically.
Eligibility
Define the scope of what the discount applies to within a booking:
Invoice level — the discount is applied across the entire invoice amount each billing cycle.
Item level — the discount is applied to a specific line item on the invoice (for example, an additional driver fee or a specific package add-on). This allows you to target the discount precisely — for example, offering 100% off an additional driver as a promotional incentive.
Saving the Coupon
Once all fields are configured, click Save. The coupon will become active and will appear in your Discounts module, ready to be applied to bookings.
Notes
A coupon must be active to appear when applying discounts to a booking.
Coupons can be applied during the booking creation process or added to an existing booking. Refer to the Applying a Coupon article for more detail.
Coupons may be removed from a booking manually or automatically depending on their frequency configuration. Refer to the Removing a Coupon article for more detail.
